Dozens of brand websites, Koo, All Gold, Enterprise and more, consolidate onto a single, secure Azure platform with built-in backup and disaster recovery.
Koo · All Gold · Enterprise & more
The challenge
Tiger Brands owns many different brands across Southern Africa, among them Koo, All Gold and Enterprise, and needs to manage a website for each, independently of the others. This had resulted in a separate front-end, application and data stack for every brand. Content updates were tedious, sometimes requiring different toolsets to make changes.
Tiger Brands needed to significantly reduce CAPEX and OPEX, and looked to consolidate all of its websites onto one platform that was elastic in nature and predictable in cost.
The solution
The objective was to implement the Sitecore production environment using Azure PaaS, specifically Azure SQL and Web Apps, while maintaining security. BUI designed an Azure solution that catered for failure in a single Azure zone, and kept future growth in mind so additional servers could be migrated later. The build delivered:
- A secure implementation of the Sitecore CMS infrastructure in Azure.
- Azure backup and disaster recovery.
- Seamless content updates via DevOps across all websites.
- A highly secure environment protected with an Azure Web Application Firewall (WAF).
The results
Tiger Brands realised its brand sites on a single, consolidated Azure SQL and Web App platform. The use of PaaS components reduced CAPEX and OPEX, cut administrative overhead, no more patching and maintaining multiple VMs, and gave the business scalable technology it could align to budget, functionality and performance.
