A telematics specialist moves its always-on vehicle-tracking platform to Azure, trading fixed on-premises hardware for elastic, pay-as-you-grow cloud.
The challenge
Scope Logistical Solutions provides a vehicle telematics platform that its customers rely on around the clock to track and manage their fleets. As demand grew, the fixed on-premises infrastructure behind the platform became harder to scale and more expensive to maintain, and any downtime risked interrupting a service that customers depend on every minute of every day.
Scope needed a platform that could grow with the business, deliver predictable performance under changing load, and reduce the capital tied up in hardware.
The solution
BUI worked with Scope to move the telematics platform to Microsoft Azure, following the principles of the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework. The team designed a target architecture that was elastic in nature, able to resize compute to match load, and structured for high availability so that the always-on service stays online.
The results
On Azure, Scope's platform gained the scalability to expand as the customer base grows, improved resilience and uptime, and a shift from heavy capital expenditure to a predictable operating model, freeing the team to focus on the telematics services their customers value rather than the infrastructure underneath.
