A Garden Route municipality brings services closer to residents with a citizen-facing mobile app, hosted on Azure for scale and reliability.
The challenge
George Municipality wanted to bring services closer to its residents through a citizen-facing mobile app. To succeed, the app needed to be dependable and secure, and able to handle demand that could spike unpredictably as more residents came on board, without the municipality having to invest in and maintain its own server hardware.
The solution
BUI helped the municipality launch the app on Microsoft Azure. Hosting on Azure meant the service could scale elastically with demand, benefit from Azure's built-in security and availability, and shift from capital expenditure on hardware to a predictable, consumption-based model.
The results
With the app live on Azure, George Municipality gained a reliable, scalable channel to engage residents and deliver services, proof that public-sector organisations can modernise citizen engagement quickly and cost-effectively on the cloud.
