A global prepaid-metering pioneer extends its infrastructure into Azure, trading high hosting costs and fragile backups for scale, automation and resilience.
20 countries · 4 continents · 70 utilities
The challenge
For over 20 years Conlog has been a pioneer in prepaid solutions, building a network that spans four continents and 20 countries, with 70 utilities using the company's metering solutions.
Several business concerns brought Conlog to BUI: high hosting costs, a cumbersome backup and recovery strategy, limited monitoring, an inability to automate, an inadequate development environment, and inefficiency when creating development, UAT and validation environments. To tackle these, Conlog was seeking a long-term partner and trusted advisor who understood their business, had the technical capability, and was strategically invested.
The solution
BUI addressed Conlog's needs through solutions and services from its a2zManaged Cloud Adoption practice, extending the on-premises infrastructure into Azure in line with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework. Key elements included:
- Backups. Azure backup and recovery for both on-premises and cloud workloads into an Azure Vault.
- Scalable environments. The ability to spin up development, UAT and validation environments quickly and consistently.
- Visibility and automation. Improved monitoring and the automation Conlog had previously been missing.
The results
By extending into Azure, Conlog gained a more cost-effective, resilient and scalable platform, with a dependable backup and recovery strategy and the operational visibility needed to keep dominating the global utilities market.
