A logistics leader retires ageing on-premises infrastructure and moves its data centre to Azure, for resilience, scale and a lower cost of ownership.
The challenge
Bidvest Panalpina Logistics was running critical workloads in an ageing on-premises data centre that was becoming costly to maintain and increasingly difficult to scale. To support the demands of a growing logistics operation, the business needed a modern, resilient platform, without the capital cost of refreshing physical infrastructure.
The solution
BUI migrated the data centre to Microsoft Azure, following the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework to build a robust target architecture. Workloads were moved into a well-architected Azure environment with built-in backup and disaster recovery, and compute sized to match real-world demand.
The results
Moving to Azure gave the operator a highly available, resilient platform, elastic scalability to handle changing load, and a shift from heavy capital expenditure to a predictable operating model, modernising the foundation on which its logistics business runs.
